We are pleased to announce that we are now shipping of our new patterns, the Peony and Tulip! These two fun summer patterns run the gamut between romping casually on the playground and attending a formal family wedding. And best yet, sewing these looks will not chain you to your sewing table while the swimming pool beckons.
These are simple projects that are a cinch to sew (except maybe that welt pocket...but we will soon have a video to help you speed right through what otherwise may be a daunting step).
Recently I had fun sewing this combo look: Tulip Shorts + Peony Vest and Boys Bow Tie. Adorable, eh? Many thanks to Sir I. for modeling this combo look. Erin and I are guilty of favoring girls patterns but what do you expect since 75% of our children are female. However it was refreshing to put together a boy's outfit for this photo shoot.
For Sir I's outfit I started with a heavy olive linen for the vest. The buttons are a fun faux leather that would also be perfect on a college professor's tweed jacket.
The shorts are also linen highlighted by a tuxedo stripe of sky blue grosgrain ribbon. I chose these colors as I envisioned him attending his cousin's outdoor summer wedding in Horse Country, Virginia.
The bowtie is fashioned out of Suzanna Liberty fabric. I'm in love with all colorways of this Liberty print, especially this one with shades of yellow, green, and sky blue. If you look closely, you will see this is the "Jack" bowtie: a bit more avant garde with its asymetrical bow than it's partner the "Junior". The Peony pattern includes both, with corresponding self-tie bowties for Dad.
Sir I. says, "Have a terrific summer and enjoy one more week of 20% off our older patterns, fabrics and notions with the coupon code: welcomesummer!"
